In the case of carpeting, it is for the best if we can choose a color that we are sure to be happy with for quite a few years to come. Buying good quality carpeting can be expensive and we will not want to be replacing it anytime soon.
There are some places in the home where deciding what color the carpeting will be should not be that difficult to decide on. When you are choosing carpeting for a child's room or even a family room, there are obvious colors that should not even be on your list, white being at the top of it!
No matter how much you love solid white or any other pastel shade of carpeting, it is simply a poor choice for a family room or in a child's bedroom. This is only good common sense. Unless you want a continuous struggle in keeping it clean, spare yourself the trouble.
There are many Berber styles and multi colored carpets that are much better choices for these rooms. They will wear better than plush piles and show dirt or stains a lot less. Deep piles are not usually good either. Food, modeling clay, play dough or other type things can be really hard to remove from deep pile carpets.
If you are trying to choose between a light shade and a darker shade of carpet in some other room of your home and you just can not decide, you might want to go with the lighter color. When you choose a lighter color and later decide that you would like it darker, you can usually have a carpet company dye it darker.
If you choose the darker color, then you will probably be stuck with it or have to change it. Neutral carpet shades are not for everyone, but they can be a good choice when you decide to change other colors in your room.
Neutral shades, such as beige or certain shades of green, will blend well with many other colors. Never install a carpet color that you are not sure about, chances are that if you are not certain in the first place, you may be even less certain after you have been living with it for a while.
