Every year there are different holidays to celebrate. During these holidays families get together and so do friends to celebrate and have dinner. Eating dinner is just part of the celebration and so is everyone's favorite: the dessert. Dessert is my family's favorite part of a meal and one of my favorite desserts is perfect for any holiday. Whether it is cold outside for Thanksgiving and Christmas or even hot outside for the Fourth of July the Four Layer Holiday Cake is the dessert to make no matter what the weather is like. (We call it Holiday Cake for short) It is a cake that can be made for any holiday celebration and it is also fairly easy.

The first thing you need to do is get all the ingredients. You will need butter, flour, chopped nuts (optional), cream cheese, sugar, cool whip, instant chocolate pudding, and milk.

To start you should preheat your oven to 350 degrees and then start to mix together 11/2 sticks of butter, soften, 1 1/2 cup of flour, and 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup of chopped pecan nuts if you would like. Personally my family leaves the nuts out but either way. Once that is all mixed together and is crumbly looking you can pour it into a 9x13'' pan and pat it down evenly making the crust. Put the crust in the already preheated oven for 18 minutes and then pull out to cool when down. After the crust is out of the oven and cooling you should start to cream together one 8-ounce package of cream cheese and 1 cup of sugar. Once those two ingredients are creamed together, fold in 2/3 of a 13-ounce Cool Whip container. Just so there is enough Cool Whip left for the top of the cake. Mix that all together and the spread the mixture over the cooled crust.

If the crust is not cooled all the way then when you spread the mixture on top the crust might pull up and break. Then in another bowl take two packages of instant chocolate pudding and mix according to the package directions except instead of using 4 cups of milk only use 3 cups of milk. Once that is all stirred together and smooth let it set for a few minutes. After you have let the pudding set for a little spread it on top of the cream cheese mixture and the top the cake off with the rest of the Cool Whip. You can also sprinkle a few nuts on top if you would like. And that is how to make a great Holiday Cake!
