We think of autoresponders as a method of shipping off information to anyone who has signed up to receive it. The use of an autoresponder can enhance your business by reminding potential clientele that you are still there with the same great service and offers that you had initially brought to their attention. It can also help you up the ante by offering new and improved promotions to potential clientele. So how do we get into creating leads for the use of an autoresponder?
When you are building your list, obviously the user is going to need to have a reason to accept your future emails. So you have to offer them something that they want but don't have in order to get them on the list. By offering up free special goodies, you can encourage people to receive your autoresponder material. This creates the beginning of the list. As people start to respond, you now have some names and addresses in order to make your list more useful. But now your users have the freebie that you have offered them and they need a reason to stay on your list. Since the law mandates that you have to offer a very simple method of removal from your list, how can you use your autoresponder to prevent your users from clicking the remove link?
You have to make it and keep it valuable. People will only continue to receive your email and stay present as potential future sales in this fashion if they feel they get something by remaining on the list. Your free promotional material was what brought them to your opt-in email list to begin with. Logically it would make sense then to continue to offer the freebies and promotional materials in order to maintain their interest. As your list starts to grow, it becomes more important to offer special promotions because you simply are not going to be able to hold their attention for ever. We live in a fast paced society. This means that we have to stay on top of the urge to click the removal link.
Some people simply make the removal link a little too difficult. This only appears helpful by making the list appear to be a large. However, those who are simply deleting your emails aren't getting the benefit of what you have to offer. Thus, unless people are genuinely interested, your email ends up in their trash without ever being read. This ultimately is not very useful. Maintaining an interested list creates a higher level of traffic and read emails through your autoresponder.
