In order to reach the instance, you will need to find your way to Amber Ledge first. From there, a dragon will fly you across a rather large chasm and into Coldarra. Anomalus is not too difficult of a fight, and the encounter rings quite similar to The Curator in Karazhan.
His abilities:
Spark: hurls magic bolts at a random enemy. Inflicts approximately 2,000 points of Arcane Damage.
Create Rift: "tears the fabric of space" and creates a Chaotic Rift near Anomalus (within 60 yards).
Chaotic Rift: will periodically cast Chaotic Energy Bursts. The bursts are similar to chain lightning and will inflict Arcane damage to three party members in succession (the damage dealt is less for each new character).
Charge Rift: Anomalus will focus his energy into the Chaotic Rifts and increase their attack range and the speed at which they spawn Chaotic Mana Wraiths.
Arcane Attraction: Increases Arcane damage taken by approximately 2000 for 10 seconds.
Melee Attack: Inflicts approximately 2,000 points of damage.
Chaotic Rift Abilities:
Chaotic Energy Bursts: as mentioned above, these bursts are very similar to chain lightning. They will inflict approximately 300 points of damage to the nearest target and then jump to two more targets in succession. Damage is cut in half for each jump (very similar to chain lightning).
In addition to Chaotic Energy Bursts, Chaotic Rift's will also spawn Chaotic Mana Wraiths. The Wraiths will cast Arcane Missiles at nearby players.
The speed at which Chaotic Rifts spawn Chaotic Mana Wraiths will increase substantially when Anomalus casts Charge Rift.
The Basic Strategy
This fight doesn't need to be complicated! Your first goal is to get him to 75% health. Let your tank build some aggro and then everyone should nuke him to 75%, at which point he will cast Rift Shield and make himself immune. He will then cast Create Rift.
Anomalus will cast Create Rift at 75%, 50%, and 25% health. When this occurs, the entire party must focus on killing the Chaotic Rift and then the Crazed Mana Wraiths it spawns. If your party can remember to focus fire on the Chaotic Rifts first, and then the Crazed Mana Wraiths, your encounter should be a breeze.
An important note to mention to all party members is that he will spawn Chaotic Rifts at 25% intervals, so there is no need to focus DPS on him while there is a Chaotic Rift present. In fact, if you DPS him while a Rift is present, you stand the chance to deal with two Rifts at the same time if you lower his health by another 25%.
Essentially, the moment a Chaotic Rift appears, all DPS on Anomalus should stop because it will only make things more difficult as the fight progresses if you try to DPS Anomalus too quickly.
There is a quest that must be completed on Anomalus' platform. It is called Postponing the Inevitable. After you kill the boss, stand on the edge of the platform where Anomalus was standing (behind his initial position). Then you must click on your "Interdimensional Refabricator" and you quest will be completed.
