These sites will allow you to find brand new cameras for half the price that you would find at stores like Best Buy. By the way - Best Buy is ONE of the most expensive stores TO buy anything from! Another option you have is to look for used cameras. These cameras aren't crap. They are simply cameras that have been used (or opened boxes) in the past and the company took the camera back. For the most part there are no visual defects. Honestly, if someone took a brand new camera and a used one and put them side-by-side you probably wouldn't even know the difference. And you could be saving hundreds of dollars ON the spot! Either way you decide to buy a camera - blog, website or used - you can find all the greatest and latest digital cameras and SLR cameras available.
Cameras such as Nikon, Canon, Fuji, Olympus, etc. If you really want to get into photography I would suggest a Nikon or a Canon. These are proven to be the two best camera brands when it comes to options, prices, photographic imagery and quality. If you buy a Nikon or a Canon you will have it for the rest of your life. These two brands WILL stand up to whatever you give them. I knew a guy in NY that was a Photographer (professional), He said he had his Nikon for well over 20 years. He has dropped it on several occasions, he has bumped it into things, he even left it out in his car once (for a little too long). And yet? It survived. I'm not telling you to purposely do these things to your camera.
I'm just trying to lend you a little more comfort and I'm letting you know that if you want a durable camera that will do what you want, when you want and how you want - Nikon's and Canons ARE the way to go. For any major SLR you are looking at anywhere from $300-$1000 for a camera. I know this might seem expensive and in some cases it is. But if you take my advice and look for the discount websites and blogs or you get a used camera - you will definitely be saving yourself a lot of money. Lastly, if you are new to photography I would suggest getting a used camera anyway. Or a cheap one. You never know how long your interest in photography will stay with you. Or what you will or won't have time for.
Frankly, I would suggest the cheap (but quality) over the expensive. No sense in buying a pricey camera, playing around for 6 months, putting it down only to never touch it again! And when you shop online - this is exactly what you can get. High end cameras for low end prices!
