When the days are long and the air is humid, all you want to do to your house is open the windows and let the fresh air in. So why not let in this lovely weather into your home with some summer redecorating? Redecorating does not have to be really expensive and can change the whole atmosphere within your home, just by simply getting some small additions to your home furnishings of colour and style. Some people may have the luxury of going to the country or the beach for the summer but everyone can bring the look of summer into their homes.

You do not have to change every room or throw out all of your old home furnishings to get a new look, there are plenty of ways of lightening and freshening up you home for the summer months. Here we look at a few tips and ideas to help you feel like you are in your summer home all the time.

First of all, to help restyle a room with minimum spend and time, simply remove all of the dark and heavy accessories. Put velvet pillows, thick throws and dark leather chairs somewhere until the winter month's return. You'll be amazed how the removal of dark pieces of your home furnishings does make a difference to your home.

Next why not paint a room a light colour or just a wall? Pick summery colours like yellow, apple green or sky blue. This really will not take as long as you think it will and if you are worried about the price of paint stick to one wall to change the layout of the room. A fresh lick of paint really does wonders for a room and can completely change the atmosphere.

Adding the colour white also dramatically changes your rooms and combined with fresh flowers you really can feel like the outdoors is indoors. Fresh plants really lighten up a room and are fairly inexpensive, especially if they are freshly picked from your own garden, the scent and colour is bound to put a smile on your face.

If you want to change and renew some of your old home furnishings why not get slightly creative, paint the back wall and side walls of a book shelf with summery colours. This will make the books really 'pop out' and bring a feature into the room. Choose a colour that fits with the scheme of you room, lime green works really well with dark wood colours.
