You will have to dry up all of the water you can see, but sometimes the water seeps where you can not see it. When any of this happens, you will need to check all over this sink and the underneath. You might have to get some professional to come and replace the caulking or the sink or even the cabinet. It is not a good thing to try to just patch this caulking because sometimes the new will not seal with the old and then you will still have the same problem.
If you have a pipe to break or leak really bad under your sink, you will need to find the shut-off valves and shut off the main flow of water. If this break is too bad, you might need to go outside your home and shut off the main water supply. If you did not have a shut-off on your inside water line, then when these professionals get there, have them install one there for you. An amateur plumbing does not always hold up so well and it is usually better to have a professional plumber or water damage company take care of your serious problems.
It is always best to be safe then sorry with any household problems. If you see something that needs to be taken care of ,do not wait until later as this small little problem you find now could be a bigger problem later. The problem with any water damage is that is will usually only keep growing as this water destroys any wood or wood products that it happens to touch. Another big concern with water damage besides rotting, is mold growth. This can grow and spread really quickly when there is a constant water supply and food. Mold only adds more worry to an already bad problem.
