The first step you want to take is to decide how you are going to form your handmade candles. You can form candles a number of different ways including by hand, by using candle molds, or even by purchasing a candle making kit. The second thing you will want to do is find a clean working area to make your candles. You want to be sure that there is nothing on the surface you intend to use that will get stuck in you handmade candles. Finally, to prepare your candle making area you want to lay down some plastic or paper so that you don't have to worry about making a mess thats extremely difficult to clean up. Once you have taken these steps you will be on your way to making handmade candles.
When you begin to make your handmade candles you want to start with a larger pan and a smaller pan, both pans should be ones that you don't intend on using on anything else in the future. One pan you will want to fill with water and then you will want to place the smaller pan in the larger pan of water. The smaller pan is the pan that you will place the wax in. You then want to turn on the heat and begin to double boil your water in order to melt the wax. You are now on your way to beautiful handmade candles.
While the wax for your candles is melting, which will not take very long using the double boil method, you will also want to melt your color wax as well or get ready whatever type of die you are going to use for your handmade candles. Next you will mix together your dye and you wax and then pour you wax into the candle molds. It is a good idea to keep aside some extra wax to fill in the area where the wick is the next day as this portion of the candle tends to sink down during the cooling process. After letting the wax cool just a little bit you will be ready to put your wicks in and set the candles aside to cool overnight. When you wake up your handmade candles will be ready for you to enjoy.
