Some of these networks have also brought John Legend into the spotlight as a supporter of the (PRODUCT)RED campaign, which began as an idea by U2 frontman Bono and DATA's Bobby Shriver, who combined forces to create a network with several corporations across the country to give money to help fight the spread of HIV/AIDS in Africa. One such company that offers (RED) products in its stores is Gap, and John Legend has recently teamed up with the clothing retailer to promote his August 13 concert at New York City's Madison Square Garden.
In a joint effort in conjunction with (PRODUCT)RED, Legend has agreed to reserve a (PRODUCT)RED seating section for his Madison Square Garden performance that will allow shoppers who make a (RED) purchase at Gap stores in the New York metro area between July 29-August 13 to get a special access code that will let them buy one ticket in the reserved RED(ZONE) at the upcoming Legend concert and get another ticket for the same area free of charge.
Furthermore, fans with John Legend tickets in the RED(ZONE) will be entered into a drawing to win backstage passes to the concert. "I love working with (PRODUCT)RED," Legend recently said, "because they provide an innovative way for great brands and great artists to come together to powerfully and effectively fight AIDS in Africa. I'm proud to be partnering with Gap and (RED) on my upcoming Madison Square Garden concert, because I know the money generated will go directly to help get medicine to those who need it."
Legend has been an avid supporter of the campaign since its start, and he has dedicated much of his time, money and efforts to aiding the fight against HIV/AIDS and poverty in Africa. The 'legend'ary R&B vocalist works often to help aid organizations in Africa, and he's even performing a string of concert dates in South Africa in the upcoming months, playing shows in Cape Town on October 15, Durban on October 17 and Johannesburg on October 18. All of the South Africa performances will feature special guest Keri Hilson, and the concerts are presented by Heineken and Big Concerts.
It's clear by now that John Legend has a solid fan base around the world, and tickets for any of his several upcoming performances are available now online, including Legend's sure-to-make-a-mark performance on August 13 at Madison Square Garden, where supporters will be treated like VIPs for helping the campaign raise money for the fight against HIV/AIDS in Africa.
