If you have installed telephone lines, you can have sometimes get an Ethernet connection and if not that, then a satellite connection. There is simply no reason you can not enjoy all of these things no matter where you are.

As long as you have electricity, all of your problems are over. If you get the power for your cabin from a generator, you can still have these essentials and most people these days do consider them essentials especially if you have kids or teenagers. It might be difficult to get your kids to go to a remote cabin without all of these basic essentials. Any place where there is no cell phone, Internet, or television reception is like falling off of the Earth to them and they are not likely to have a good time.

Just because you want a home away from home, does not mean that you necessarily want to break from the entire world. Even if you do not watch a lot of television or talk much on the phone, it is still nice to know that they are there. Life is hard enough in the real world and there is no sense in making your valuable free time any harder than it has to be.
