Many divorces these days are fairly straightforward, no-fault divorces with both partners agreeing to go their separate ways due to the irretrievable breakdown of the marriage for one reason or another.

There are so many divorces in this day and age, with statistics becoming ever more appalling every year for people with a firm interest in the sanctity of marriage. But with the institution of divorce less of a stigma now than it ever was before, people who choose to end their marriages are doing it more and more amicably every year.

Because a wedding is seen as the ultimate expression of two people’s love for one another, it would be easy to think that conversely a divorce would be the opposite – a lasting monument to the antipathy built up over the course of a marriage.

Of course, we all know what a divorce is on a basic level. With so many marriages in the present era going wrong and ending messily, there are more divorces now than there have ever been.
