European low cost airline easyJet has taken over European routes previously served by British Airways, and the new competition is already seeing flight and holiday prices to Malta tumble for summer 2008.

The pioneering airline that first brought low cost airlines to Malta has done well enough to start new routes to the island. Ryanair, the Irish based low cost airline, were the first airline to win the right to fly to Malta from the island's main markets for tourism of Ireland and the UK.

Over the last year or so airlines have really been struggling trying to find a suitable level ground to overcome the credit crunch.
